2 Simple Ways I Stay a ‘Productive’ Artist

1. The 2 Simple Productivity "Hacks"

If I had to pick the 2 Most “bang for buck” hacks to stay a ‘Productive Artist’ (aka getting a lot of $#!t done)

Its these…

1. Do the most important thing first thing in the morning ☀️

• Write it down the night before.
• Get it done within the first 4 hours of waking up.
• Spend at least an Hour Doing it.
• Chuck out all the things that gets in the way of that.

Why? – It helps you get work done before the distractions of the day sets in.

2. Put in 3hrs of ‘Deep Work’ each day on your ‘Most Important Tasks’⌛

• It needs to be ‘Undistracted’ deep work.
• Phones, Internet and any other distractions are strictly prohibited.
• Break the 3hrs into chunks of 50 mins and 10 mins rest.

Why? – 3 hrs of Focused work is better than 8 hrs of distracted effort.

Ex – Got a ‘comic project’ or want to build an ‘Art YouTube channel?
• Put in an Hour (or 3hrs).
• First thing in the morning before getting to work.

These 2 things have single handedly contributed most of my ‘Successes’over the past years.

I’ve spent years wasting my time watching videos on productivity and reading books about it.

And most of it comes down to this – ‘Do the work’.💪

It’s not fancy, it’s simple.
And this is how I get it done.

2. The First Rule of Productivity

Here’s another piece of wisdom I’ve discovered over the past years. 👇

‘Productivity’ is not about doing everything right. Its about doing the right things well (for me).

That means:

Putting your effort and valuable time into the ‘Right’ projects that gives you the most returns.

One of the ideas that hit me like a brick was ‘Doing the worthless activities well is the same as doing nothing. Both yield no rewards’

Ex – you can spend hours creating disposable content for TikTok…..OR……make a comic book, that accrues in value over time.

3. Favourite Quote of the Week

“Don’t aim at success. The more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it.

For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side effect of one’s personal dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one’s surrender to a person other than oneself.

Happiness must happen, and the same holds for success: you have to let it happen by not caring about it. I want you to listen to what your conscience commands you to do and go on to carry it out to the best of your knowledge.

Then you will live to see that in the long-run—in the long-run, I say!—success will follow you precisely because you had forgotten to think about it”

Viktor E. Frankl,
Man’s Search for Meaning.

That’s it for this week folks!
See you in the next one 🙂

Best,
Kesh.
