1) Weekly Illustrations
I’ve recently picked up a weekly illustration or drawing habit.
I’ve been feeling a bit off from not creating anything finished or polished in a while. 😔
Plus I was hoping that I’ll pick up a project that will help me do that. But no.
I had to pick something that’s more consistent.
So here’s what I made last week 👇
A) a Study illustration where the goal was to capture the animation aesthetics in an image.

I was trying to see if I could just get away with 1 layer of shadow on the character and a painterly background – a common look in 2d animation.

B) A Quick Character Design

2) Create Systems or it ain't Happening
A system is a set of repeated actions to get things done on a recurring basis.
No systems – no goals.
That has been my recent learning.
Everything you do repeatedly needs a system – a set of actions to do – or else the job won’t get done.

For example: my system for creating weekly Art ✏️
• Draw one of 3 things – a Character, a study or a world building drawing
• Draw every Wed/Thurs
• Spend 90mins – 3hrs on a drawing
• Allow yourself to make crappy art.
That’s it – I’m just giving this one a test drive till I finalize it.
Here’s a video from Leila Hormozi that really drilled this lesson into my head
3) Favourite Quote of the Week
“You don’t rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your systems”
– James Clear
That’s it.
I’ll see you again next week 🙂
Best,
Kesh.
