Don’t Pander

1. Make YOUR Art. Don't Pander

Make the kind of ART you want to make. ✏️

And it will attract a certain kind of people. But you can’t decide who it will attract.

You only have control over your work. Not the people it attracts.

The moment you change your work to attract a set of people, two things happen…

A. You will stop doing stuff you like in favour of your newfound people.

B. You will find it hard to do the things you like doing, thus loosing yourself.

So reminder to self – MAKE STUFF you like. And it attracts who it attracts.

Stay true to yourself. And that’s your niche. 💯

2. Should you go to Art School?

That’s the wrong question to ask.

Ask yourself – Where can I find people or mentors who are 5-10 steps ahead of me from whom I can learn from?

Single out that person. 🧍

Don’t get distracted by too many mentors (or else you won’t learn from none)

Go all in, learn and take what’s useful. Discard the rest. 🧠

And you can find these mentors from art schools to courses to your neighbourhood next door.

When the student is ready, the master will appear.

oh, in case you wanna learn from me – here’s how 👈

3. Favourite Quote of the week

“Ethics is what you do when others aren’t watching”

– K. Annamalai

That’s it for this week folks!
See you in the next one 🙂

Best,
Kesh.
