Lessons from 50 Days of Drawing Daily

So,

I (along with 100 other people) have been drawing daily for 50 Days as part of my 365 Day drawing challenge. 🗓️

I’ve done multiple daily drawing challenges before but this time – Its feels DIFFERENT.

Therefore, I wanted to note some lessons or things I’ve observed in the past 50 Days. 😌

1. Draw something for 10Mins

This is the “draw something” principle which is –

“if you feel like you are out of ideas or don’t feel like drawing, draw something” ✏️

Anything, even a simply smiley face.

The brain is a trickster. it can trick you to be lazy and not do something.

But if you can beat that and draw some random thing – you will feel better at the end of it. 😄

You would be glad to have done it than not.

And it doesn’t have to be for long. Just 10 Mins of Drawing some random thing – Really goes a long way. ⌛

Little/consistent effort is always better than hard/no effort.

2. It doesn’t take Much time to get good

All you need is 10mins of focused, deliberate practice.

I was quite surprised to see the things I can learn in just 10mins, if I focus. 🧠

I used to think you need hours to get good. But if you are deliberate with your Drawing Practice,

You can get good. Pretty fast. 😮

All you need to do is be intentional

• Know what you are going to draw beforehand.
• Choose the RIGHT drawing exercise.
• Focus on correcting yourself by giving yourself feedback.

All these add up to your improvements fast. 💪

You don’t need 10,000 hours to get good. You often need as little as 20hrs to get better at something than MOST people.

That’s just 10mins a day for 120 days.⌛

3. Be Prepared

A little preparation goes a long way.

The easiest way to draw daily is be prepared. 📝

• Have a list of things to draw.
• Follow a plan.
• Know when and where you are going to draw.

Little things like this simply helps you grow fast and makes your life easy.

4. Community Matters

I’ve done plenty of Drawing challenges in the past, but this time I’m doing it with 100 other people in my private ‘Drawdaily Club’

Your environment is one of the biggest indicators of your behaviour and the community you are a part of defines your mental environment,

Which ultimately dictates one’s actions. 😌

Drawing along with a group of people who are on the same journey as you is game changing on another level.

As a guy who is used to being a “lone wolf” –

Joining a community of people who shares the same ethos and goals as you is one of the biggest “hacks” to get to your goals fast. 💪

Pro Tip : If you can’t find that community, build it.

All it takes is a bunch of friends who wants the same thing and a WhatsApp group.

So yeah, those are all the lessons/observations from 50 Days of Drawing.
