1) The Key to Better Drawing: Construct better than you think
Here the Same Drawings Drawn by 2 Different Artists. Why does one look better that the other?
• Both of them have used the BASIC lesson in drawing : Which is to construct your drawing with 3D Forms ✏️
Yet one looks better than the other.
Simple: One has simply done a better job at arranging the construction and building the forms.
Look at the first drawing broken down to it’s Forms 👇
• The forms are there but they look wonky. They are not properly constructed.
• and look at how the bangs of the hair overlays the form underneath it.
Now, The second drawing broken down to Forms 👇
• Look at the solidity of the forms and the quality of the construction.
• Look at how the Bangs of the hair are arranged over the form underneath it. It looks like it sits on top of it, instead of cutting in.
So Drawing tip: Draw better forms and keep looking for mistakes. Rotate them in 3D and see if they look “wonky” (does it break) – Perfect your construction! 💪
2) Difference between the PROs and AMATEURS
• The PRO’s do the BASICS really really well, whereas
• The beginner thinks ‘knowing’ the basics is the same as doing the Basics.
3) Favourite Quote of the Week
“The difference between an amateur and a master is that the master never stopped practicing the basics.”
– Miyamoto Musashi
That’s it.
I’ll see you again next week 🙂
Best,
Kesh.
