1) 30 Days of Drawing Hands
So I practiced drawing hands everyday for 30 days (for just 10-20mins/day) and that had a drastic impact on my ability to draw hands.
Here’s what I’ve realised when it comes to getting good at drawing hands (or anything)
It’s not the repetition (alone) that matters – it’s the quality of each rep. Meaning, instead of mindlessly drawing hundreds of hands – I carefully selected the 5 Kind of hands poses I want to draw more often, and just practiced that deliberately.
That yielded the results I want quickly because I focused on 20% of effort that got me 80% of the outcome. 🎯
So lesson: focus on the 20 that gets the 80. Discard the rest.
2) Start with Mitten Hands
One of the biggest mistakes people make when it comes to learning to draw hands is this – take on ‘hand anatomy’ head on.
Instead, here’s a better way:
• Learn to draw mitten hands first (teaches you simple gesture and structure)
• And then learn anatomy.
This is a much easier way to learn hands. 😌
3) Favourite Quote of the Week
“Sometimes what you don’t do is just as important as what you do.”
– Greg McKeown.
That’s it.
I’ll see you again next week 🙂
Best,
Kesh.
