Most people try to form a consistent Daily drawing habit,
But fail, miserably to do so.
Then they complain about the tactic itself.
“Drawing everyday sucks”
“You shouldn’t Draw everyday – it makes you feel pressurized”
“It leads to burnout!”
The problem is not the tactic, the problem is how you approach it.
• I have drawn everyday for the last 365 days in 2025.
• I’ve done countless 100 day drawing challenges over the past 5-7 years.
• And I’ve helped 1000’s of people form a consistent drawing habit throughout my journey.
And here’s what I’ve learned.
You just need 4 things to form a successful daily drawing habit.
And they are…
1) Make It Small
Don’t commit to an hour long practice everyday, like..
“I’m gonna draw 1-2 hours everyday because that artist I saw on YouTube does it”
NO! You have a job, you have a life, you get sick, you need to go to the gym, you have stuff to do. 😌
So you need to Make It Small.
Small enough so you can do it on your “Hard days”.
You need a TINY HABIT, like..
– 6mins a day of sketching
– 10mins of drawing 3x/week
Something that is so simple, its hard to say NO on any given day.
2) Make It Scalable
After you commit to a very small drawing habit, like
“I’m gonna draw 10 mins a day for 3 days a week”
You need to Make It Scalable.✔️
10 mins/day is a minimum.
But a plus would be 30 mins/day.
An elite level of that habit would be 60 mins.
It would look like;
Mini: 10 Mins/day for 3 Days/week.
Plus: 30 Mins/day for 3 Days/week.
Elite: 60 Mins/day for 3 Days/week
Or it can be more.
But the point is: You need give room and options for your habit to scale.
Once you do that,
3) Make It Repeatable
Meaning, have a repeatable system to execute your habit.
• Do it at the same time and place
• Have a list of ideas to draw.
• Know what tools you are going to draw with.
• Set up your table with those tools so its easy for you to start.
You need to establish HOW you are going to do something,
So the friction to do it, is actually less. 😌
Finally,
4) Make it together.
A habit is much easier to form when you’re part of a community,
An environment that shares the same culture as you do. 🧠
You will just do those habits simply because you’re part of the tribe.
Last year (2025), I ran this program called ‘Drawdaily365’, where I drew everyday with 100+ other artists for 365 days.
It was so easy for me to draw everyday simply because other people were doing it along with me.
TRIBE. Environment.
It matters.
So, implement these 4 things to make your habits easier.
1. Make it small
2. Make it scalable
3. Make it Repeatable
4. Make it Together.
